How does the Night Score work?
The Night Score is a single 0–100 read on whether tonight is worth shooting. It blends cloud cover, atmospheric transparency, humidity, moonlight and your true dark window for your location. Higher is better; tap it for the full breakdown.
What's the difference between Forecast and Best Nights?
Forecast scores the upcoming nights — the week ahead. Best Nights ranks a 14-night horizon so you can pick the strongest upcoming night in advance.
Do I need an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for. Open the app and start planning.
How is my location used?
Only to calculate sky and weather conditions for your spot — never to track you. Saved Locations stay on your device. See the privacy policy for detail.
Does it work without signal?
Your saved plans and recently loaded forecasts are available in the field, so you can check them after you've lost signal. Fetching a brand-new forecast needs a connection.
What do I get with Pro?
Dark Skies is free to start. Pro unlocks the app's advanced planning features. It's an optional upgrade — the free tier is fully usable on its own.
Widgets and alerts
Add a widget to keep tonight's score and dark window on your Home or Lock screen, and turn on Best Night alerts to get a heads-up when an exceptional night is coming to your spot.
Which devices are supported?
Dark Skies runs on iOS 18.1 and later and Android 12 and later.
How do I manage or cancel Pro?
Manage your subscription in your store account: iOS via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, Android via Play Store → Subscriptions.
